Accreditation and Professional RecognitionTechnical Institute courses are accredited by external bodies either
locally or overseas. The standard is constantly maintained through a comprehensive
system of accreditation and moderation by these external bodies. Before
1994, most technician courses were accredited by the Business and Technology
Education Council (BTEC) of the United Kingdom and at present, by the City
and Guilds of London Institute (CGLI). External examiners are also appointed
by the Council to cover the other courses not accredited by the CGLI. Students having successfully completed a CGLI accredited course are awarded a CGLI Diploma/Certificate recognised by many professional bodies and institutions both local and overseas as satisfying the educational requirements for membership and exemption from examinations. A number of other courses, though not accredited by CGLI, have also obtained either partial or full recognition from relevant professional bodies such as the Australian Insurance Institute, the British Institute of Architectural Technicians, the Chartered Institute of Building, the Chartered Insurance Institute (U.K.), the Hong Kong Association of Accounting Technicians, the Hong Kong Society of Accountants, the Institutes of Electronics & Electrical Incorporated Engineers, the Institute of Supervisory Management, the Society of Civil Engineering Technicians, the Society of Surveying Technicians, the Hong Kong Institute of Company Secretaries, the Institute of Marketing and the Institute of Purchasing & Supply (H.K.). |
