VTC to participate in
International Education Forum and Expo
The Vocational Training Council (VTC) will participate in the first ever International Education Forum and Expo hosted by the Education Bureau to provide young people with information on vocational education and training. The Expo will be held on 15 and 16 July (Friday and Saturday) in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The VTC and its member institutions including the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE), the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEI) will mount booths at the Expo for the public to understand the programmes and services provided by the VTC.
The booths will showcase the progression pathways provided by the VTC for candidates of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education under the New Academic Structure. The VTC personnel will answer enquiries on the spot and assist students and parents to plan further studies. Dr Carrie WILLIS, Executive Director of the VTC, and LEUNG Yam-shing, Senior Assistant Executive Director of the VTC, will speak on the Forum separately to introduce the seamless progression pathways developed by the VTC alongside with the New Academic Structure. The special features and edges of the vocational education and training programmes at different levels offered by different member institutions of the VTC will be highlighted.
The VTC students also proactively participated in the Expo. Among them, HKDI students of the Department of Product and Interior Design were selected by the Education Bureau to design souvenirs and environmentally-friendly shopping bags for the overseas education ministers, guests and members of the public attending the Expo. The souvenir to be presented to the overseas ministers was designed by TANG Ho-fung, a student of the Higher Diploma in Exhibition Design course of the HKDI. Shaped in the form of a snow mountain and themed “Vantage Point”, the souvenir symbolised the students under the New Academic Structure who scaled the snow mountain. After braving all the challenges, they would be able to acquire more extensive experiences and new horizons.
In addition, HKDI will stage a fashion show where professional models are to present the fashion designed by students of the Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and Development course to showcase their talents.
