The Department will be moving to the campus of IVE (Tsing Yi) from Kowloon Tong by spring semester January 2011.
It is well recognized that a modern city like Hong Kong needs an efficient transport system in order to realize its intention of becoming the premier Asia Hub for goods and services. We aim to provide high quality education and training support services to develop the necessary critical mass of technical, supervisory and management personnel needed.
We have purposely built testing, research and development facilities to technically support our stakeholders and students to face challenges ahead. It is always our prime objective to continually and professionally improve our resources and provide the best courses to date.

Construction
Construction embraces planning,
developing, building, managing, maintaining and improving
the living environment. It is recognized as a series of essential
human activities on earth, and contributes to the development
of both culture and the economy. The courses put emphasis
on both technical and managerial aspects of construction.
There exists a persistent demand for technologists
and technicians in the local construction industry as reflected
in many civil engineering and building projects currently
under construction and equally large number of developments
planned for the next decade. Manpower surveys have confirmed
the industrial need for a continual output of technicians
and higher technicians in both quantity and quality terms.

Department of Engineering adopts a flexible and creative approach to teaching and learning methodologies. Students are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities, especially those related to their field of studies to enhance their learning outcome. Our staff maintain close relationship with the industry. Department believes in staff development and staff receive professional placement and training every year during their study vacation and term time provided their teaching activities are not affected. Students upon graduation are ensure of their competence through practical training, laboratory practices, small group tutorial and lectures. During their final year, they take part in industrial placement/project which further enhance their edge in job hunting upon graduation. Our past graduates' employment rate maintain at > 85% so far.
Information
& Communications Technology
The Department of Information and
Communications Technology is well equipped with computers,
software and a modern IT infrastructure, and our students
are exposed to state-of-the-art equipment, technology and
techniques. The Department has a number of centres of excellence,
including the Network Technology Centre and the Object-oriented
Technology Centre. It also maintains a strong relationship
with the local IT industry. Over the past three years, the
Department has received support from the Innovation Technology
Commission for three major projects totalling over $20 million.
The Department offers a wide range of technical
IT courses in both full-time mode and part-time mode. Our
graduates are well sought after by employers, with the majority
of our previous graduates working in relevant jobs in both
private and public sectors. Our courses are also well recognized
by local and overseas universities for the purpose of further
studies. Many of our Higher Diploma graduates pursue further
studies in part time mode, enabling them to acquire a degree
qualification in less than two years.

Language
Centre
The role of the Language Centre is to support
the communication needs of Hong Kong students. These may be
in English, Putonghua or written Chinese and may be for their
current and future academic activities – lectures, tutorials,
project reports and presentations, for example – or
for their future careers.
The Language Centre is staffed with specialised,
professionally-trained language teachers who are committed
to helping students to achieve their goals. A mix of proven
classroom language learning activities, online e-learning,
and self-access materials are used to guide students to better
language proficiency, with special emphasis on the practical
nature of their study and workplace needs.
