Course Aims

This 4-year full time course aims to prepare students with the skills and mindsets ready for the challenges of the dynamic and knowledge-based business world of the 21st  century.  To achieve such an aim, it features a well-balanced curriculum comprising business modules (e.g. Principles of Business Management, Principles of Marketing and Business Law) and  IT and eBusiness Modules (e.g. Computer Applications for Business, Electronic Business Fundementals and Web Design and Applications for Business).

Articulation Arrangement

Graduates are eligible to apply for relevant degree courses organised by SHAPE:

  • University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK : 1-year full time/ 2-year part time BA(Hons) in International Business Management,
  • Leeds Metropolitan University, UK : 9-month full time/ 18-month part time BA(Hons) in Business Management,
  • Open University of Hong Kong : 18-month full time Bachelor of Business Administration(Hons) in Accounting

Academic and Vocational Objectives

From the course-level perspective, the course aims to:

  • offer multi-entry and multi-exit points to allow flexibility in learning as well as to accommodate students of different calibre and varied needs;
  • provide a stimulating learning environment;
  • present  a  programme  in  an  integrated  form  to  reflect  quality  business practices; and
  • achieve currency in order to match the manpower needs of the dynamic business environment, globally networked.

Regarding the students, the course aims to

  • provide students with an understanding of Chinese culture, values, business practices and strategies;
  • give students a good appreciation of the academic foundation for the basic business management, strategic mindsets in business operations and entrepreneurship;
  • enable students to develop keen business sense encompassing both east-western principles to defining, analyzing and solving structured and unstructured problems;
  • achieve competency in the use of contemporary internet technologies and commercial software and their applications in business;
  • develop students’ ability to communicate in English and Chinese effectively in both written and oral forms;
    secure recognitions by relevant institutions; and
  • prepare students for further studies and life-long learning.
