Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Scheme

VTC launched its NET Scheme with the main aims of building up students' confidence in using English for workplace communication and of providing them with more opportunities for cross-cultural experience.  In AY 2010/11, 18 NETs from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA are teaching in the Language Centres of various campuses.  With the positive response from students, VTC will continue to recruit more experienced NETs to enhance the English-language learning environment.

Chatteris English Development Programme

The Chatteris English Development Programme was launched by VTC in collaboration with the non-profit making organisation, the Chatteris Educational Foundation.  In AY 2010/11, up to 23 Programme Coordinators (PCs) are stationed in various campuses to run English Corner in the Learning Resources Centre (LRC) or the Centre for Independent Language Learning (CILL).  The PCs mingle with our students on campus and organise all kinds of workshops, tutorials and activities to create an environment for using English.

Career Advisory Services

The Student Development Offices at individual campuses offer a wide range of career advisory services for students to enhance their career planning and job hunting skills and to provide job vacancy information for their career development.  Recruitment / Placement Officers at various Pro-Act Training and Development Centres conduct regular visits to companies in the industrial and business sectors to identify their employment needs and provide trainees with job placement opportunities.

Employers can also recruit VTC graduates through the Job Information System, a web-based one-stop graduate placement service.  Students can also access this system for job searches and applications.  A Career Web platform was set up to provide students with essential information and tips for starting a career, interview skills, letter-writing skills and useful websites on career development.
