Youth College Open Days welcome Secondary three and above students to apply for DVE programmes on the spot

Youth College (YC), a member institution of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), provides Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) programmes for students with Secondary 3 and above qualifications seeking a valued progression pathway. Upon completion of the programmes, young people will be equipped with the requisite knowledge and skills for a study place leading to higher qualifications or a career in the area of their studies. A series of Youth College Open Day events will take place for five Fridays between 26 February and 15 April. Various campuses will showcase their industry-benchmarked education and training facilities (please refer to Annex for details). The events also provide fun-filled experiential activities, skills demonstrations and stall games promoting the versatility of DVE programmes. Admission is free. Parents and students are welcome. Secondary three and above students will be able to apply for DVE programmes on the spot.

DVE programmes are credit-based and the curriculums are designed with flexibility in mind. Students can choose a professional trade among 16 programmes divided into three categories, Business and Service, Engineering and Design and Technology. Students who have obtained the DVE award may progress to the VTC’s Higher Diploma programmes to further their studies and attain a higher academic qualification.

In tandem, the Pro-Act Training and Development Centres housed respectively within the VTC Kowloon Bay and the VTC Kwai Chung Complexes as well as the Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI) in the Kowloon Bay Complex and Tin Shui Wai will hold open house events showcasing the strengths of vocational and professional education and training through skills demonstrations (please refer to Annex for details.)

The Youth College is a member of VTC Group. The College provides youths above Secondary three with an interactive learning environment and a flexible progression pathways. The Diploma of Vocational Education Programmes (DVE) of the College equip students with knowledge and valuable skill sets, paving the way for further study and employment. The Youth College has 8 campuses which include Kowloon Bay, Kwai Chung, Kwai Fong, Pokfulam, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Tseung Kwan O and Yeo Chei Man (near the Po Lam Station).

The Pro-Act by VTC is a member of VTC Group. It provides students with a comprehensive practical training to enhance their competence, skills and qualifications. By working closely with industry partners, the Pro-Act by VTC offers training and development programmes that are responsive to market trends, attuned to industry needs and facilitates industry development. In addition, Pro-Act operates the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Scheme, Engineering Graduate Training Scheme, New Technology Training Scheme and trade testing for various trades to help in-service employees attain recognised qualifications.

The Hotel and Tourism Institute (HTI, formerly known as Hospitality Industry Training and Development Centre) is a member of VTC Group. Established in 1984, HTI aims to provide quality pre-employment and supervisory training for the hotel, catering and tourism industries. HTI is furnished with advanced equipment to facilitate practical training in Food and Beverage Service, Front Office, Housekeeping, Tour Guide & Service Culture and supervisory courses for the industry.
