The
application of computer and information technology plays an
essential part in the 21st century . It is widely applicable
either in commercial organizations or government departments.
In view of this, the Printing Department of Hong Kong Institute
of Vocational Education (Kwun Tong) has revised and renewed
the courses to cope with the recent trends in society. Besides,
the name of department of Printing and Digital Media in 2001.
Printing Department was established in 1973 for the purpose of providing
high quality , well-trained and qualified manpower to the printing industry
Hong Kong is one of the biggest printing center in the world. As the printing
industry plays an important role in Hong Kong and to maintain the competitiveness,
the government have been subsidizing retraining to the printing staff since
2001 to manage the development of computerization.
Since the regeneration of curriculum in 1999 until now, there are totally
5 new courses being launched, which are HD in Commercial Printing and Digital
Media Publishing, HD in Advertising, Packaging and Branding, HD in Digital
Film and Television, HD in Digital Animation and Cartoon Character Design,
HD in Digital Media Design. Elements including computer graphic, electronic
publishing, computer editing, website design, website design and c omputer
animation, etc. Are inducted into the existing printing knowledge. In addition
to the studio and digital Video equipment that we have millions of dollars
were spent on the regeneration of our computer and digital media facilities
such as the acquisition of digital sound studio ,electronic networking
laboratory. ¡§Motion Capture¡¨ system which is worth more than a million,
and a 10 million computer-control printing press. |
