The IVE Applied Science and Engineering disciplines have launched collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) this summer. During 18 June to 4 July, MIT- China Educational Technology Initative (CETI) has sent five students to IVE campuses and run several workshops with our students. 60 IVE students had joined the programme which was held in three IVE campuses: Chai Wai, Shatin and Tsing Yi.
During the two-week programme, the MIT team has taught our students with hands-on applications of science and technology in the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Systems with Internet Technologies and Biology. On 25 June 2010, Mr. Sean Gilbert, Managing Director of the MIT-China Program, also joined the program which all MIT and IVE students gathered for the common workshop and cultural activities. Mr. Gilbert had a great time at Tsing Yi campus and was also impressed with our wide range of learning facilities as well as engineering students’ projects such as the solar powered vehicle.
The MIT-VTC student workshop has been a valuable experience for all of us. The exchanges gained through this programme will further strengthen the bonds built between VTC and MIT in coming years.
