80 students from the Department of Business Services and Management worked at the Marathon Expo held at Victoria Park on 31st January and 1st February to serve the Marathon runners and visitors on both days.
The project was collaboration between the higher diploma course in Business Promotion and Event Management (BPEM) and Hong Kong Amateur Athlete Association (HKAAA), the organizer of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon.
The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon has been one of the spot-light events endorsed by the HKSAR. For BPEM, it has been one of the strategic events in working along with the industry. Apart from that, it was also made a living exercise for BPEM students in enhancing their skills and experience in event management.
Students were organized into 8 functional teams; each responsible for either a game or a functional area at the Expo. Prior to the event, 15 students formed a planning committee to serve HKAAA and aligned the human resource to facilitate the event. Senior students passed their prior experience to the junior students in executing the functions. Students all worked in high spirit on both days and the function was completed successfully.
