General Entry Requirements:

HKCEE 5 subjects - Grade E / Level 2 or above (including English Language and Mathematics) OR Diploma in Vocational Studies OR Foundation Diploma OR Foundation Certificate OR Project Yi Jin OR equivalent.

Course Aims :

This unique multidisciplinary course brings together Information technology and creative design skills by integrating IT, multimedia, design and communication, with the aim of producing graduates who can contribute immediately to the multimedia communication revolution. The course assumes no specific educational subject background, but does require an interest in IT combined with creative design flair. It works closely with Design Department in designing creative multimedia and design related modules.

Graduates may be employed as Webmaster, Web developers and designers, Multimedia & Internet Product Developers, Visualization Products Developers, 2-Dimensional Designer and Graphic designers, 3D modelers / visualisers, Special effect designers, Technical artists, Advertisement developers, Program Producer, Interactive system technical officers, Internet / Multimedia contents developers, Multimedia & Internet product developers, Promoter and Advertiser, Human computer interface designers.

Articulation Arrangement / Credit Exemption:

Upon admission to relevant degree courses, graduates can apply for credit exemption. The level of exemption will be considered on individual basis. Moreover, the Department is negotiating with universities and academic establishments to offer graduates top-up degree programmes locally.

Notes:

(a) Applicants taking HKCEE English Language in 2006 or before should have attained Grade E or above (Syllabus B) / Grade C or above (Syllabus A).
(b) Applicants who apply on the strength of their Diploma in Vocational Studies / Foundation Diploma / Foundation Certificate / Project Yi Jin qualifications have to pass the relevant course.
Upon successful completion of one Education Bureau's* quality-assured ApL course (formerly named as Career-oriented Curriculum (COC) course), the qualification obtained is recognised as comparable to one HKCEE subject pass (or given preference) for admission to Higher Diploma, Diploma and Foundation Diploma courses offered by the IVE / SBI / HKDI / YC.
* The Education Bureau is formerly named as the Education and Manpower Bureau.
The VTC reserves the right to cancel any course, to revise the course content or to change the offering campus(es) of the courses if so required.
Applicants, who are admitted to the 1-year Foundation Diploma Course or 4-year Higher Diploma (Entry to Year 1) Course but obtained the following results in the HKCEE English Language, will be required to enroll separately on the English Foundation Programme (EFP) (90 hours) offered by the VTC :
a)    below Level 1; or
b)     below Grade F in the HKCEE English Language (Syllabus B) or below Grade D in (Syllabus A) in or before 2006; or
c)     have not taken the HKCEE English Language.

The course fee of the EFP is HK$2,500 for the academic years 2006 / 07 and 2007 / 08. There will be a financial assistance scheme for students in need.
