The final Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), held specifically for private candidates, will release results on 4 August (Thursday). The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) will offer some 100 programmes leading to the award of higher diploma, diploma and foundation diploma in 2011/12 to provide progression pathways for HKCEE candidates and holders of equivalent qualifications. Candidates making no prior applications could take part in the computer iteration exercise held on the HKCEE result announcement day to select their preferred courses for further studies.
The admission procedures will be streamlined this year. Candidates who have made no prior applications can bring along the original and photocopied credentials and visit the IVE and the HKDI campuses in person on 4 August, the result announcement day, to apply and make course choices online. Results of the computer iteration exercise will be announced in the evening of the same day.
As for students who have already submitted their application on or before 15 March, they had already made course choices and undergone interviews. Some of them had already been granted “conditional offers”. Should their HKCEE results satisfy the requirements, they will receive confirmation messages on their admission by email or SMS. Applicants have to confirm their acceptance of the places before 2pm by that day.
Applicants whose results do not meet the requirements of the “conditional offers” or late applicants who made their applications between 15 April and 1 August will have their applications undergoing iteration by computer automatically. Should an applicant wish to change the priorities of course choices, they should log in the course choice system to do so between 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on 4 August. Admission results will be announced in the evening of 4 August.
Admitted applicants will have until the noontime of 6 August to complete the registration process at the offering campus. Applicants not allocated a place after the iteration round can wait until 8 August to apply for the remaining places. Details can be obtained at the admissions web page: http://www.vtc.edu.hk/admission
