The last Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) and the first Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) will be held next year. In response to the strong needs for further study of these two cohorts of candidates, VTC will provide around 20,000 places from over 100 full-time programmes in the 2012/13 Academic Year. Application period will open on 1 December 2011 until 29 February 2012.
Programmes suitable for HKALE and HKDSE candidates will include the degree programmes offered by Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) and the higher diploma programmes offered by the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). HKDSE students can also apply for the new foundation diploma programmes offered by IVE and HKDI, and the diploma in vocational education (DVE) programmes offered by Youth College.
Applications can be submitted through the “Web-based Admissions System” of the VTC Admissions Office (www.vtc.edu.hk/admission) for a fee of HK$130. This system is quick and convenient as applicants are only required to submit their applications once to apply for all VTC programmes mentioned above. Upon submission of applications, students can concentrate on public exam preparation and make their programme choices in the middle of next year.
There are general entrance requirements for the programmes suitable for HKALE and HKDSE candidates (see Attachments 1 and 2). To obtain latest programme information, students can access VTC Admissions Homepage (www.vtc.edu.hk/admission) or visit www.vtc.edu.hk/study.
