    Restaurant Manager

    The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) offers over 20 innovative degree programmes that are vocationally oriented and developed with significant industry input.  All the programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and most are also accredited by the relevant professional bodies.  In 2018/19 AY, twelve programmes are included in the Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), which provides subsidies to students varying from $41,000 to $71,700 per year.  For more information about our Institute, please visit https://www.thei.edu.hk.
     
    A training restaurant named “Spring”, running as a club, was established in order to facilitate the development and delivery of the curriculums of Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Hotel Operations Management (HOM) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Culinary Arts and Management (CAM) programmes, which offers pragmatic operational experience for the students.  The studio will implement simulation catering projects through which students can put the theoretical knowledge they learn from classes into practice.
     
    Major Duties:
    The appointee shall report to the Dean and manage the daily operations of the training restaurant with below duties:
    (a) to oversee restaurant operations including catering services and logistics management;
    (b) to be accountable for the establishment’s targets and objectives;
    (c) to manage Club logistics;
    (d) to facilitate teaching and training to students as well as staff on the premises;
    (e) to ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety legislation and guidelines; and
    (f) to follow the Institute's policies and procedures regarding the handling of cash, property, products and equipment.
     
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management or related fields with relevant teaching and/or industry experience, or equivalent qualification;
    (b) Management and/or supervisory experience in the restaurant industry preferred;
    (c) Ability to comply with all Food and Beverage brand standards;
    (d) Good understanding of F&B Revenue Management;
    (e) Good knowledge in wine and spirit and restaurant Point-of-Sale Systems, Table Management System and Purchasing software;
    (f) Ability to deliver exceptional levels of customer service;
    (g) Excellent interpersonal communication skills, organisation and leadership skills;
    (h) Dependable and reliable, flexibility in responding to different work situation and able to work under pressure; and
    (i) Teaching experience and passion for teaching and developing students will be an advantage.
     
    Notes:
    (1) The post is in the rank of Instructor.
    (2) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours or shifts and perform duties on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
