    VTC campuses open to HKDSE candidates on result release day


    Results of the first Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE)   Examination will be released this Friday (20 July). Various campuses of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) will be open to HKDSE candidates on the day including the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) which offers self-financed degree programmes; and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) which offer higher diploma programmes. Candidates not meeting entrance requirements of the abovementioned programmes can still apply for the Foundation Diploma (Level 3) programmes of the IVE or the Diploma in Vocational Education programmes offered by the Youth College.    
     
    On the result release day, non-applicants can still submit an application with the VTC at any one IVE campuses, the HKDI, THEi, and designated Youth College campuses for the programmes of their choice. Admission results will be announced on 21 July. Application arrangements are as below:

    In the 2012/13 academic year, THEi, IVE, HKDI and the Youth College provide over 17,000 places for more than 100 programmes to HKDSE candidates. Some of the applicants have already obtained a conditional offer, which will be turned into a firm offer once their HKDSE results meet the entrance requirements and specific prerequisites of the selected programmes. Applicants have to confirm acceptance of the study place by 6 pm on 20 July through the Web-based Admissions System and go to the offering campus in person for registration by 25 July.         
    Applicants not accepting the offer or not being offered a study place can log in the Web-based Admissions System to change course choices or priorities from 11 am to 6 pm on 20 July. Admission results will be announced on 21 July.
     
    THEi, the new member institution of the VTC, provides 6 vocationally-oriented programmes for its first year of operation whereas the IVE and the HKDI offer over 80 higher diploma programmes with built-in industrial attachment modules which will enhance the students’ practical experiences and knowledge on respective industries. 
     
    The Foundation Diploma (Level 3) programmes of the IVE and Diploma of Vocational Education programmes of the Youth College cover many professional streams to cater for differing interests and needs of young people. The general entrance requirements were listed at Appendix 1.
