    HKDI & IVE (Lee Wai Lee) Graduation Show
    exhibits student talents


    The Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Lee Wai Lee Campus organised the annual Design Graduation Show starting today (28 June) for 12 days. The Design Graduation Show would connect, through the works of students, industry people of different sectors for the exchange of creative concepts and design knowledge.
     
    Themed “Partnering into Future”, the Opening Ceremony of the Design Graduation Show was held yesterday (27 June) at the HKDI Design Boulevard, which was also a signature event in celebration of the VTC 30th Anniversary. As the curtain raiser, a fashion show was held where professional models presented the fashion series of 22 students of the Higher Diploma in Fashion Design course to compete for different prizes, including overall championship, best menswear and best knitwear.The fashion show also provided a platform for the industry to understand better creativity of the students and trawl for talents there.
     
    At the Image Shows of the HKDI to be held tonight (28 June), students of the Higher Diploma in Fashion Image Design course would present over-the-top 1980s retro styling with the aid of spectacular stage effects to stun the audience.
     
    The “2012 Multimedia Entertainment Shows” will be staged on 5 July (Thursday) by students of the Higher Diploma in Creative Media and Entertainment Technology course of the IVE. Creative projections for the year of 2012 would be showcased, deploying multimedia technologies like laser animation, motorised projection system, computerised lighting control system and interactive surround sound, to demonstrate both the originality and consummate techniques of the students.
     
    On 8 July (Sunday), the original “Music in Motion” concert organised by students of the Higher Diploma in Digital Music and Media course will be held. Students in a dozen bands will present their original music pieces, with the aid of stage and lighting effects, to showcase their performing talents.
     
    In tandem, an exhibition of student works from other design specialisms will be held. The scope of the exhibits includes product design, interior design, graphic design, fashion design, digital media, films, computer games, jewellery design, watch and clock design, and multimedia animation, many of which are award-winning works as well as collaborative projects with the industry. Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition which offer a glimpse of the talents and creativity of the students.

    The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) is a member of VTC Group. The 9 IVE campuses are located across the territory. Together they provide vocational education for secondary 7 graduates and secondary 6 graduates under the new academic structure as well as people in employment. IVE courses leading to the award of higher diploma, diploma or foundation diploma cover various academic disciplines including Applied Science; Business Administration; Child Education and Community Services; Information Technology; Engineering; and Hotel, Service and Tourism Studies. 
     

     
    The Opening Ceremony of the Design Graduation Show, which unveiled the 12-day exhibition, was held at the HKDI Design Boulevard.
     
     
     

    A fashion show, the curtain raiser, drew both industry people and the public. LEE Tak-shing, graduate of the Higher Diploma in Fashion Design course, won the overall championship with his work titled “The Sentimentalist”.
