VTC 30th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner – Partnering into the Future

The “Vocational Training Council (VTC) 30th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner – Partnering into the Future” held last Friday (1 June) at Regal Airport Hotel, was well attended by over 500 guests and raised HK$4 million for the VTC Student Development Fund.

With Regal Hotels International as the title sponsor, the Dinner was a signature event of the VTC 30th Anniversary celebration programmes. Michael SUEN, Secretary for Education, officiated at the Dinner. Addressing the guests, Clement CHEN, VTC Chairman, said the Dinner was indeed meaningful with all the industry partners joining to envision the future, and to benefit VTC students. It was a good start for the newly established VTC Student Development Foundation which would support the development needs for more than 50,000 full time students of the VTC. The Dinner also offered an excellent opportunity for VTC students to showcase their talents. They participated actively in organising the Dinner from reception, performance, to designing T-shirts and making chocolates for fundraising sale that night, which embodied the creativity and hard work of the students. Mr Chen also expressed his sincere gratitude to all major sponsors, as well as table sponsors, individuals and organisations that generously sponsored the live auction and fundraising sale.

The auction drew enthusiastic bidders with precious items donated by businesses and dignitaries and the egg engraving produced by teachers and students of the Chinese Cuisine Training Institute (CCTI) fetching high prices. In the end a total of HK$4 million had been raised. After deducting necessary expenses, the proceeds will go to the VTC Student Development Foundation to sponsor programmes for enriched learning experience both locally and overseas, as well as scholarships in recognition of outstanding students and financial assistance for students in need, providing more opportunities for their holistic and quality education.
