Fashion and Image Design
 

Upon course completion, students will be able to:

  • understand the role and responsibilities of the fashion and image designers, and describe the profile of the fashion industry
  • describe basic fashion design process and demonstrate basic fashion design skills and techniques
  • apply basic design presentation skills as a tool to communicate design ideas, concepts or technical information
  • apply and demonstrate basic knowledge and techniques in image building fundamentals
  • demonstrate fashion sense and create personal image
   
Course Content  
 
  • Introduction to Fashion and Image Design
    • An overview on the fashion and image design industry
    • The role of the fashion image designer
    • Design fundamentals
      • Basic Fashion Drawing
      • Colour Concept & Effects
      • Texture & Fabric

  • Design Presentation and Styling
    • Basic fashion technology skill
    • Silhouettes effects and coordination skills
    • Basic presentation and fashion illustration skill
    • Image appreciation

  • Applied Fashion Image Design
    • Common Topic (15 hours) :
      - Etiquette, grooming & personal image

    • Elective Parts (45 hours) :
      - Creative Image Design
      - Fashion Make-up
      - Chignon technique, or
      - Nail Art
      - "my STYLE" Fashion Show presentation

    Graduates may pursue career in fashion and image design industry as fashion coordinator trainee; or junior make up artists, hair or nail art stylist; or image design trainees. Upon completion of the relevant Higher Diploma courses, they could be employed as assistant fashion designers, make up artists, hair stylists, nail artists, assistant image designers, assistant fashion editors, fashion coordinators, product development assistants, assistant merchandisers, retail management trainees, production coordinators.
