ApL Professional Development Programmes (PDP)

The VTC has started, since the AY 2006/07, developing PDP for teachers interested in teaching ApL courses (including secondary school teachers, VTC tutors and industrial parties). These PDPs include lesson observation activities and related professional training which aim to strengthen understanding in the operation, teaching and learning progress and assessment modes of ApL courses for the purpose of share teaching.

In summer 2007, the VTC was invited by the EDB to offer a PDP for secondary school teachers related to Food & Catering in the area of Services. This PDP, with contact hours of 45, offered a range of theoretical and practical learning activities, seminars and visits to update participants on the latest knowledge and development on the specified subject area.

In AY 2007/08, a series of PDP on assessments modes and methods were also organised for VTC ApL tutors and secondary school teachers.

Along with the implementation of the New Senior Secondary System and for better incorporation of ApL into the secondary curriculum, PDPs in the form of industrial attachments would be organised to provide training for secondary school teachers interested in taking up share-teaching duties.

For schools interested in the VTC’s PDP, please contact the New Projects Office at 2836 1264.
