Entrance Requirements

Holder of S6 (NSS) Qualification:

Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics; OR VTC Foundation Diploma (Level 3) with successful completion of Foundation Mathematics III; OR VTC Diploma in Vocational Education with successful completion of Mathematics 3G; OR Yi Jin Diploma with successful completion of Mathematics Plus; OR Equivalent.

Remarks :

  1. Holders of VTC Foundation Diploma (Level 3), VTC Diploma in Vocational Education and Yi Jin Diploma without successful completion of the relevant optional Mathematics module, should possess HKDSE Mathematics at Level 2 or above.
  2. An "Attained" and an "Attained with Distinction" in an HKDSE Applied Learning (ApL) subject (Category B subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2" and "Level 3" respectively, and a maximum of two ApL subjects can be counted for admission purpose.
  3. A "Grade D or E" and a "Grade C or above" in an HKDSE Other Language subject (Category C subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2" and "Level 3" respectively, and one Other Language subject can be counted for admission purpose.
  4. Holders of DVE award upon successful completion of prescribed modules are eligible to apply for Higher Diploma Programmes.

Programme Aims

As one of the Six Economic Pillars of Hong Kong, the environmental technology industry has a very good prospect. This programme is a cross-disciplinary professional study of technology applied to environmental planning, eco-product, renewable energy. It ties in closely with the sustainable development of Hong Kong and its manpower needs. Graduates have ample opportunities for career development or further study.

This programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.

Career
Prospects

The employment rate of graduates is expected to be very high due to the blooming of the industry. Graduates may take up positions in the environmental technology industry such as environmental technologists / technicians, technician engineers, project coordinators, project officers, works supervisors, technical officers and assistant engineers, etc. Employers include government department (e.g., EPD, CEDD), public companies (e.g., MTR, CLP), professional environmental / construction consultants and contractors, etc.

Articulation

Graduates can apply for admission to the following programmes :
The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (VTC Degree programme)
Graduates may also apply for admission to relevant degree programme offered by the local or oversea universities.

Professional Recognition

The Department is negotiating with The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers in assessing and recognizing our graduates from this programme as satisfying the academic requirements for its Associate membership.

Graduates will be issued with Green Cards which fulfills the Mandatory Basic Safety Training requirement for working in construction sites.
