Programme Aims

This programme aims at helping students to develop, through a balanced curriculum with generic and vocational knowledge and skills, and structured whole person development competencies in a specific trade so as to enhance their opportunities for employment and / or further studies. The Jewellery Arts and Design Programme covers mainly the necessary trade-specific knowledge and skills required in the jewellery design industry. Graduates may choose to seek employment or further their studies.

Career
Prospects

Graduates may be employed as assistant jewellery designers, assistant jewellery salespersons, marketing coordinator trainees, quality controller trainees, gemstones selector trainees and technician apprentices.

Articulation

Upon satisfying the credit requirements for a specific award, students will be awarded with the Basic Craft Certificate (BCC), Technician Foundation Certificate (TFC) or Diploma in Vocational Education (DVE) award for employment or further studies. Students who have successfully completed the designated modules and attained DVE award can apply for admission to Higher Diploma programmes offered by VTC under the new senior secondary curriculum.


Students who choose to exit with a BCC / TFC award for employment may pursue the DVE award through part-time study.

Professional Recognition

Graduates who are employed and registered as apprentices in the relevant trades could be exempted part of the training required. The apprenticeship could thus be shortened, normally up to a maximum of 12 months.
