Financial Assistance

Students of VTC subvented programmes or self-financed programmes may apply under the following financial assistance schemes :

* Students may apply for the "VTC Fee Remission Scheme (FR)" if their application for the "Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP)" is unsuccessful.

Scholarships and Award Schemes

Every year, the VTC awards more than 400 scholarships and award schemes to students with outstanding achievements. These are sponsored by the HKSAR Government, industries, professional bodies and individuals, and they have a total value of more than HK$20,000,000.

The HKSAR Government Scholarship and Education Funds
The HKSAR Government scholarship and education funds aim to recognise VTC Degree and Higher Diploma students with outstanding achievements. Since 2011/12, over 1,550 VTC students have benefited from various scholarships. The amount received by each student ranges from HK$10,000 to HK$40,000 per year.

The Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship Scheme
This scheme provides final-year full-time students of Higher Diploma programmes in the Applied Science, Engineering or Information Technology disciplines with financial assistance of up to £20,000 a year in order to further their studies at universities in the UK. The scholarships cover their tuition and accommodation fees, living expenses and air fares for two academic years.

So far 75 IVE students have been awarded scholarships under the scheme. Of these, more than 60 have already completed their undergraduate studies in the UK, while 26 have obtained Master's degrees in either the UK or Hong Kong. One of them has completed her PhD, and two are completing their Doctorate studies.

VTC Outstanding Students Award Scheme
This scheme aims to recognise students on the strength of their academic results, leadership abilities, personal qualities, active participation in extracurricular activities and contribution to community service. Every year, nine students from different disciplines are nominated by their respective department and each receives an award grant of HK$10,000.

Mr Yeung Kai-yin Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship enables needy students to participate in study visits and overseas exchange programmes, thus broadening their exposure and horizons and enhancing their holistic development. Each student receives up to HK$10,000.

Outstanding Industrial Attachment Scholarships
Funded by generous donations from more than 120 industrialists and employers, the scheme benefits VTC students who perform outstandingly well during their industrial attachments. Altogether 120 students each received scholarship awards of HK$2,500 in AY2010/11.
