Entrance Requirements for Year 1:
Level 3 or above in the HKDSE English Language and Chinese Language; AND Level 2 or above in the HKDSE Mathematics, Liberal Studies and one Elective Subject; OR Equivalent.
Entrance Requirements for Year 3:
Higher Diploma OR equivalent qualifications in a relevant area of study.
The programme aims to train a new breed of healthcare administrators and nutritionists for the rapidly expanding healthcare industry. It covers a wide range of subjects in the foundation studies, including infection control, patient care, geriatric care, etc. Starting from Year 3, the programme will be divided into specialist streams in ‘Health Administration’ and ‘Nutrition and Health’. Internship opportunities in healthcare institutions will also be provided to students for them to gain practical experience and enhance their employability.
Graduates will be able to hold administrative posts in government, subvented or private medical or healthcare institutions, or serve as project officer in rehabilitation centres or nutritionists in wellness and nutrition business organizations. After gaining sufficient work experience, they can be promoted to the management level.
With the continuing trend of aging of Hong Kong’s population, coupled with the construction or commissioning of Kai Tak Children’s Hospital, Tin Shui Wai Hospital and Wong Chuk Hang Hospital and expansion of service by many major hospitals, there is a huge demand for healthcare and nutritional science personnel and specialists. The industry not only provides lots of job positions to graduates of this programme, practitioners can have the opportunities of upward mobility in their career.
The programme provides a solid foundation in academic competence and research capability for students aspiring for further studies. Graduates are eligible to enrol in a taught Master level professional healthcare degree or graduate course, such as nursing, clinical nutritional science, etc.
Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
